Just the other day we, and just about every other media member, reported that GM had paid back it’s loans to the federal government. They have, but it turns out that it may not exactly be what it seems to be.

Well, even though GM isn’t standing proudly, towering others….they are opening new design studios.

All of America and Canada should be happy with GM this morning. GM repaid all of their loan with interest, years before the date due.

Despite potentially being able to pay back all the US loans early (maybe even today) GM is no longer in the top 10 of Fortune’s 500 list.

It is being reported that General Motors will repay it’s loans on Wednesday of this week. Wow.

Despite previous reports, it seems that Hummer is really dead. We are sad.

Per GM’s Facbook newsfeed, Bob Lutz will retire again May 1. Despite an occasional misfire, Bob’s brand of Maximum Car Guy has done wonders for GM product during his tenure.


About a week after Road & Track’s Editor in Chief pens a column about designers running divisions, citing GM’s Bryan Nesbitt and Chrysler’s Ralph Gilles, Nesbitt is moved back to design.

That’s right. The latest failure in automobiles comes from our very own GM. GM has recalled 1.3 million cars due to power steering failure.
