In response to the somewhat non-existent problem that Consumer Reports discovered the other day, Toyota (nee Lexus) has stopped production (after stopping sales) on the GX460 until they can fix the problem.

Did they tip it over? No. Did they lift two wheels? No. One wheel? No. So what’s the problem? It “slid too much.” Yes. They did a lift throttle right hand turn from 60 mph and produced a lift throttle oversteer skid. You can clearly see in the widely circulated video that all 4 wheels stay on the ground, and the stability control does ultimately catch the slide.

This picture tells a thousand words.

LS Sport 1

We’re torn on the Lexus LS460. It’s an extremely competent luxury car. But it’s no BMW 7. Lexus’ latest effort to match the 7 is the new LS460 Sport.

Lexus has been testing their new super car for a few years now. It has been “spotted” heavily camouflaged testing at the Nurburgring and racing at the Nurburgring. Additionally, Euro IT Boy and I saw it in person earlier this year at the Goodwood Festival of Speed…..where it was heavily camouflaged.

But no longer!
