You know how BMW has switched out the N54 for the N55 engine in performance applications? Well Car and Driver noticed too and did a test.

So.  I just ate lunch at Five Guys and when I came out there was an M6 parked next to my 335.  It got me thinking.  Why.

The BMW cars with the N54 engine are pretty quick cars. And even though BMW has decided to replace that engine with the N55 in most of it’s cars (135, 335, 535, etc…) they aren’t doing so in there performance applications. Why?
